Our world is approaching a phase where several resources will become scarce at the same time: energy, nutrients, water availability, space... The wealth and well-being of coming generations will depend on us being able to adapt our economies to the finite world that our planet actually is. Transforming today’s cities into sustainable eco-cities is one of the main adaptations that will be necessary. Ecological engineering offers a holistic approach, a wide spectrum of possible solutions and a wealth of business opportunities. It might well become one of the key factors in this transformation process.
This symposium actively addresses these barriers and searches for ways - based on existing positive examples - to proceed beyond them. It will deal relevant issues from water management tu urban development, industrial ecology and source -separation. Program

Cleantech - Wachstumspotential für die MEM Industrie, Zürich, 03.02.2012
Mit weniger mehr erreichen - das ist das Konzept von Cleantech und Ressourceneffizienz. Cleantech bietet den Unternehmen eine Chance, Produkte und Prozesse zu entwickeln, welche mit weniger Material und Energie einen höheren Nutzen beim Kunden bewirken, und dies erst noch bei geringeren Kosten.

Conference on Implementation of the RFID Privacy Impact Assessment, Brüssel, 08.02.2012
This conference - part of the 'Towards a coherent European Approach' - will discuss the implementation of the RFID Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Framework developed by industry, endorsed by the EU Data Protection authorities and signed by all key stakeholders.
Participants at the conference (about 120-150 people from the administrations of EU Member States, industry associations and networks and EU/national regulatory agencies) will have the opportunity to comment on the outcomes of the consultations, including the workshops and seminars organised to date in various EU Member States by industry on the adoption of a common European approach to the PIA Framework implementation.
